NYK, Partners Name First of 12 New LNG Tankers for QatarEnergy

A joint venture, comprising NYK, Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, MISC Berhad, and China LNG Shipping (Holdings), has held a naming ceremony for a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier for QatarEnergy, the first of 12 being built for the state-owned energy company of Qatar.The ceremony was held at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) in China, and the vessel was named Al Tuwar, after the name of a hill in Al Wakrah, a major city in Qatar.The 174,000 m3 vessel is the first of a series of 12 LNG carriers that the joint venture company will build for QatarEnergy…

N-KOM Drydock Receive First Qatargas Vessel

Nakilat-Keppel Offshore & Marine (N-KOM) has received the first Qatargas-chartered vessel “Al Wakrah” to dry dock at the Erhama Bin Jaber Al Jalahma Shipyard, Qatar’s new, world-class offshore and marine hub at the Port of Ras Laffan. “Al Wakrah”, which is owned by a Japanese consortium led by Mitsui O.S.K. Keppel secures contract for Qatargas LNG carriers

Keppel Shipyard Limited (Keppel Shipyard) has entered an Alliance Service Agreement for the drydocking of a fleet of Moss Rosenburg (MOSS) type of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) carriers chartered by Qatar Liquefied Gas Company Ltd (Qatargas). The five-year agreement was signed with MO LNG Transport Co., Ltd (MOL), Nippon Yusen Kaisha Ltd (NYK) and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha Ltd (K-Line). The vessels under the fleet agreement are Al Zubarah, Al Khor, Al Rayyan, Al Wajbah, Broog, Zekreet, Al Wakrah, Doha, Al Bidda, and Al Jasra. Keppel Shipyard has been servicing this fleet of LNG carriers from Qatargas since 1999. The scope of work involves drydocking for survey, maintenance and repair.
