With a few months to the show, Maritime Vietnam 2006 has lined up a range of special events. Organised by HQ Link Pte Ltd, Maritime Vietnam 2006 will take place in Ho Chi Minh City International Exhibition & Convention Centre (HIECC), Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, from 7 – 9 November 2006. Themed “Meeting Global Challenges in Vietnam’s Maritime Industry”, a one-day conference will take place to complement the exhibition by providing an insight on the new era of Vietnam’s maritime industry. Leading industry players have been invited to share their views on Vietnam’s shipbuilding industry, shipping facilities, innovative equipment & services that are required for the shipbuilding and ports development as well as the latest state-of-the-art navigational aids for harbors and channels use. Moving away from the traditional approach of showcasing exhibitor products and services, the Products Parade at Maritime Vietnam 2006 will inject new life into the event by combining models’ catwalk with a range of exciting products and services throughout the three-day event. Exhibitors’ Business Presentations will also provide visitors with the chance to witness exhibitors conducting technical demonstrations on the functions and capabilities of their products and services. Drawing attention to the innovative character of the maritime industry, the Maritime Vietnam 2006 Innovation Award will stimulate developments within the maritime sector so as to spur on more cutting edge achievements in the future. This award will recognize the new innovations that have significant contributions to the maritime sector. To boost interactivity at the event, the organizers have also organized the business matching service to the participating companies with their desired key decision-makers from related ministries, maritime agencies, state-owned maritime organizations in shipping and shipbuilding as well as the maritime community. With more than 90% of exhibitors from overseas, the strong international orientation of Maritime Vietnam 2006 is reflected in the keen interest taken up by exhibiting companies in national/group pavilions from China, Germany, Holland, Korea, Singapore and Vietnam, with Holland as a feature country, to showcase the capabilities of their respective shipbuilding and marine equipment industries. Members of the local maritime & shipbuilding sector are also geared up about the opportunities the event will be bringing to shore. Local companies such as Hung Dao Container Joint Stock Company, Hai Dang Company Ltd, Saigon Shipbuilding Industry, 76 Shipyard, Saigon Shipmarin, Vinashintec and Southern Engineering & Shipbuilding Company have signed up to meet with international maritime players to explore the possibilities for collaboration.
