Sea Marshals Showcases Management System in New Premises

International private maritime security company Sea Marshals Ltd. has expanded into new premises to cope with its growing workload, particularly in the Gulfs of Guinea and Aden.

Sea Marshals marked its expansion with an open evening held at its new 4,500 square feet center of excellence for maritime security, alongside the Millennium Stadium, boasting excellent transport links on its doorstep and Cardiff Bay only minutes away. The large operations center is manned 24/7 to support the 120+ personnel currently at sea protecting vessels, and also boasts state of the art communications, IT and conference facilities.

Sea Marshals Director, Anthony Lewis, said, “Sea Marshals’ operations center ensures all transits are monitored around the clock by a specialist team trained to deal with any manner of incident which may arise. While many PMSC’s, both small and large, still revert to ‘ops on the move’ in the form of laptops and a mobile phone, Sea Marshals has always maintained a fully staffed office, 24 hours a day 365 days a year to ensure our teams have the support they need, when they need it.”

Guests from around the world were treated to a demonstration of the capabilities of Sea Marshals, in particular its Central Management System (CMS). CMS was custom developed by Sea Marshals own in-house IT staff and provides a best practice approach to PMSC administration.

Anthony Lewis explained, “As the business is developing, CMS has become the core of Sea Marshals operations allowing the team to be one step ahead when managing security operatives that are deployed at sea.”

Using the latest technology, CMS can track vessels visually using waypoints, track the location of any weapons, equipment and security team members at any time, and also provides full historic details. The system also allows Sea Marshals to upload a vessel’s details and immediately check the availability of security personnel, weapons and equipment. As a result Sea Marshals can assign a security team within minutes. This is key for Sea Marshals to be able to reduce client costs through maximized utilization of security teams and equipment whilst retaining exceptional quality.

Mr. Lewis added, “Already this year we have seen significant growth, particularly off the coast of West Africa where vessel security is becoming of paramount importance, and we are anticipating that 2014 will be even busier.”
