Matson, Inc. a leading U.S. carrier in the Pacific, announced today that both Matson Navigation Company, Inc. (Matson) and Matson Logistics, Inc. (Matson Logistics) have been honored with Logistics Management magazine's Quest for Quality award.

The recognition is regarded in the transportation and logistics industry as the most important measure of customer satisfaction and performance excellence.  For the past 30 years, the publication has conducted the annual survey of buyers of transportation and logistics services, asking them to rank service providers on five key criteria:  on-time performance, value, information technology, customer service and equipment and operations.  This year, say Matson, the survey had over 6,000 participants.

Matson was one of 12 companies honored in the ocean carriers category, which included both domestic and international carriers.  Matson Logistics was one of five logistics providers recognized in the intermodal marketing companies category.

"Matson is very proud that both Matson and Matson Logistics have been distinguished with this prestigious award," said Matt Cox, president and CEO.  "Matson's mission is to move freight better than anyone.  We want all of Matson's services to be associated with the best in the industry.  This honor is particularly gratifying in that the winners are determined by those who rely on our ocean transportation and logistics services to achieve their business objectives.  The recognition is a direct reflection of the commitment to excellence throughout Matson, in every line of our business."

The Quest for Quality awards will be formally presented to Matson and Matson Logistics at an event on October 23, 2013, in Denver, in conjunction with the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) annual conference.
