Lighthouse Relay Baton Arrives in USA

A commemorative baton sent on its way from Europe by Inchcape Shipping Services and containing a scroll with all nominated charities listed on it, has arrived by participant ship in Mobile, Alabama, on its way to Panama City.

Inchcape CEO Capt. Claus Hyldager was earlier the originator of the ISS Lighthouse Relay Voyage, a major Corporate Social Responsibility initiative benefiting disadvantaged communities in all the countries around the world where ISS does business. 


At each relay port when the baton departs on board ship bound for the next country, a brief handover ceremony is  held. The plan is for a ISS country GM or Port Manager, a representative of the benefiting charity, the port or terminal’s own management and the ship’s Master to be present and a cheque or pledge presented by ISS to the charity representative. 


On this occasion, ISS USA raised money for their chosen charity ‘American Cancer Society’, through the kind generosity of its staff, principals and vendors, raising a fantastic USD $16,461.00 in total.

Presentation of the cheque was made to the charity at ISS Mobile’s office and was attended by ISS Mobile staff Webb Winsor, Swep Fraiser and Tereasa Cotton and representatives of the American Cancer Society, Blair Bullen and Kathy O’Neill.
