Kongsberg Maritime Awarded Simulator Contracts by BP Norway

Kongsberg Maritime has won two contracts for the delivery of ASSETT Engineering and Operator Training Simulators for the Valhall and Ula-Tambar fields in Norway. The simulators will be delivered in 2006. And will be integrated with the ABB Safety and Automation System. Pål Fister and Kristin Vennes, project leaders for Valhall and Ula simulator projects at BP Norway comment that: “BP's intentions with the Ula and Valhall dynamic simulators are to provide benefits including: Improved operator competency/training, production optimisation, development/testing of new ideas/modifications and training prior to installation, and testing of new control logic prior to installation." Kongsberg Maritime has in total delivered approximately 50 tailor-made full scale engineering, DCS test and training simulators to the industry, in addition to a large number of dynamic simulation studies.
