February 25, 2016

Leif Kristian Weum has been appointed to the position of Managing Director of the Kongsberg Maritime Sales and Service office in Athens, Greece.

Kongsberg Maritime Hellas SA is a key Sales & Customer Support office established to serve the significant number of Greek shipping companies, located in the Athens area.

Having served on the Kongsberg Maritime Hellas SA Board of Directors since the office was opened in 2011 and in various customer support and sales management roles within KONGSBERG for almost two decades, Leif Kristian Weum is well positioned to take the helm from Managing Director, Terje Dyhre, who remains in Kongsberg Maritime.

In addition to managing Kongsberg Maritime Hellas SA, Mr. Leif Kristian Weum will manage the sales activities in the East Mediterranean and UAE / Middle East, in close collaboration with Kongsberg Maritime Sales in Norway and in Greece.

"I look forward to taking on this exciting new challenge. I believe that customer support and sales are closely connected, so managing a support office while continuing with sales activities makes perfect sense. Greece is the world’s largest ship owning nation and our largest single client base, but I still believe there is still growth potential in this market," comments Weum.

With a large number of ferry operators and merchant vessel owners, Greece is key market for Kongsberg Maritime. Kongsberg Maritime Hellas SA services the local area and southern Europe.

Its 16 staff provide effective support for hundreds of vessels using Kongsberg Maritime products including Navigation & Automation solutions, Tank Gauging Systems, Custody Transfer Systems for gas carriers, Vessel Performance Systems, Fleet Performance Systems and DP technology.

"We have a strong local team in place to ensure we meet the expectations of our customers in Greece. Local know-how is absolutely essential for delivering high quality, efficient sales and support activities to customers in the region and for vessels visiting Athens, Piraeus or other ports in Southern Europe and the Middle East," Weum adds.
