JA Moody, a national distributor for product lines in the navy and commercial marine marketplace, is now a Viega Marine Distributor for the U.S. shipbuilding and offshore markets.

Founded in 1899, The Viega Group manufactures and distributes plumbing, heating and pipe joining systems, currently offering more than 3,000 products in North America. Viega manufactures and distributes shipbuilding and offshore piping solutions and claims to be the only manufacturer to offer press fittings in multiple pipe joining materials. Viega ProPress, Viega SeaPress and Viega MegaPress systems can reduce installation time and improve performance in marine markets including megayachts, commercial vessels, military vessels and oil platforms, the manufacturer said.

Durable and engineered to perform in the harsh environments of the open sea, Viega SeaPress fittings in copper-nickel are specifically designed to stand up against sea water. Viega ProPress systems in copper and stainless are best suited for fresh water systems. Viega MegaPress, the only carbon steel press fitting installed using a battery tool, is approved for fuel, lube oil and hydraulic oil for marine applications with Schedule 10 to 40 black iron pipe.

Viega ProPress and Viega MegaPress systems also offer the patented Smart Connect feature, the only guaranteed method in the industry to identify an unpressed connection. The Viega Smart Connect feature allows water or air passed the sealing element of an unpressed fitting during pressure testing, so installers can easily identify it.

Viega ProPress, Viega MegaPress and Viega SeaPress can be used effectively in compressed air systems as well as flammable fluids and other critical marine systems. By combining different materials and sealing elements, Viega systems can be customized to suit most shipbuilding applications.
