Iridium Satellite announced an expansion of its global network of value-added developers (VADs) program with the appointment of three new companies in key market sectors. The three companies are AirSatCom of Toulouse, France; MailASail of London; and Remote Equipment Monitoring and Assessment Services (REMAS) of Englewood, Colo. “By partnering with these global communications companies, Iridium is able to continue bringing innovative, new solutions based on emerging technologies to a broad base of customers all over the world,” said Greg Ewert, executive vice president of Iridium Satellite. AirSatCom provides customized satellite communications solutions and accessories for a variety of communication and fleet tracking applications for both the civilian and military sectors. AirSatCom is adding Iridium capability to its satellite terminals for aeronautical applications to provide affordable, global communication options for both fixed-wing and rotary aircraft. MailASail, a trading division of Nippy Networks Ltd, is an e-mail compression and acceleration system for the maritime market. The company, which also installs satellite phones and airtime for their customers, will now offer the Iridium solution to further expand this rapidly growing market segment. REMAS provides end-to-end data integration services to government and system integration customers. REMAS will incorporate Iridium data transmission solutions for defense and homeland security applications. Using the Iridium satellite network, the applications will provide customers real-time access to system performance, operation and RFID data for mobile global assets.
