Iranian Ports Records 78% Growth in Non-oil Transit
Iran's Director of Ports and Maritime office of Lengeh port announced an increase of 78 percent in non-oil transit, a 19 percent increase in safe passenger transport and an increase of 86 percent in container loading and unloading at ports in west of Hormozgan.
Ghasem Askari Nasab, reporting on the nine-month performance of the ports of West of Hormozgan in 2017, stated that during this period, a total of 6 million and 759,558 tons of oil and non-oil products were loaded and unloaded at these ports.
Of the 1,470,776 tons of non-oil products in the ports of this region, Lengeh port with transit of more than 994 thousand tons observed a growth of 6%. Of the total operations carried out in the ports of Hormozgan, 5 million and 288 thousand and 809 tons were related to petroleum products.
During the mentioned period, the transit volume of non-oil products in these ports reached 218 thousand and 51 tons, which shows a 78% increase compared to last year.
Director of the Ports and Maritime office of Lengeh port, referred to the export of 735,634 tons of non-oil commodities in the ports of Hormozgan and expressed that the figure has increased 21 compared to the same period last year. Of the total non-oil exports, Lengeh port managed to reach 718,186 tons, which represents a 12 percent increase in this field.
Askari Nasab explained that during the first nine months of the this year, more than 55 thousand tons of non-oil goods was admitted in the ports of the region, the volume of which has decreased by 58 per cent compared to the same period last year due to increase in domestic production.
The export volume of agricultural and livestock products in the ports of Hormozgan was 225,138 tons, which represents a 17% increase. Since the beginning of the year, 4,955 TEU have been unloaded at the ports of Hormozgan, which shows a 86% increase in this sector.
