The Coast Guard medevaced a 47-year-old man from the OSV Capt. After it reportedly collided with the a tanker ship, the Panam Carabe, Friday night.
A rescue boat from Coast Guard Station Sabine was dispatched, to meet the Capt. Nick about 10 miles off shore from Sabine, Texas. The crew arrived at the vessel's location, after being slowed by heavy fog and extremely low visibility.
The injured crewman was complaining of intense internal pain, believed to be the result of a collision the vessel had with a tanker ship Friday night. The tanker Panam Carabe reported the incident to the Coast Guard. The collision occurred in the ship anchorage in Galveston, Texas.
The crewman was taken back to the Coast Guard station and transferred to awaiting emergency medical technicians.
Coast Guard units in Port Arthur, Texas, and Galveston are investigating the collision and injury.
