Thrane & Thrane has introduced a new maritime high-speed terminal, the Capsat Fleet55. The new terminal is the latest member of Thrane & Thrane’s Fleet product family. The Capsat Fleet55 is smaller, lighter and lower priced than the Capsat Fleet77 terminal introduced in March 2002. Most notably the Capsat Fleet55 comes with an antenna significantly smaller than the antenna on the Capsat Fleet77.
The Capsat® Fleet55 terminal offers cost-effective global voice and spot beam high-speed data communication based on either 64 kbps ISDN or MPDS (Mobile Packet Data Service) protocol with constant online access. As users only pay for the amount of data transferred, MPDS is the most economic and convenient solution for e-mail, small to medium size file transfer, and continuous online access to, for instance, corporate intranets and the Internet.
The new terminal will be serviced and supported by Thrane & Thrane’s dedicated network of Capsat Fleet77 distributors and service centres. With shipments of more than 200 Capsat Fleet77 terminals since product introduction, the service network has already proven its high standard in serving Thrane & Thrane’s Fleet product customers.
“With the introduction of Capsat Fleet77 Thrane & Thrane has successfully penetrated the market for commercial fleet, navy and coast guard vessels as well as the market for fishing trawlers and yachts.
Thrane & Thrane will present the new terminal at the super yacht show Boot Düsseldorf, Germany, January 18-26, 2003. The first shipments of the Capsat Fleet55 terminal to partners and distributors world-wide is expected to commence during the spring of 2003.
