Bridge Allision on Port Allen Alternate Intra-Coastal Waterway

M/V Mitzi Evelyn, pushing three barges loaded with salt, struck the Bayou Sorrel Bridge, in the Port Allen Alternate Intra-Coastal Waterway (ICW) between Baton Rouge and Morgan City, LA. There was no damage, injuries, or pollution but the Alternate ICW was closed while engineers investigated the damage. Later in the day, the waterway was reopened with wake restrictions to all traffic.
