Carnival Corporate Shipbuilding, the newbuilding arm of the world's
largest cruise ship group, has contracted with classification
society RINA to train its newbuilding superintendents.
The three year contract will provide Carnival's inspection teams with
training in health, quality and safety, CCS organization, and technical
subjects such as fire protection, materials, machinery and plants,
coating definition, maintenance and repair, marine metallurgy, welding,
piping systems and HVAC, electrical and automation systems and USPHS
(United States Public Health Service) requirements.
The basic training module outlined above will be followed buy deeper
specialist courses that will cover specific fields in more detail. The
training material and contents were developed by RINA in cooperation
with Carnival, and will be continuously updated using feedback from
superintendents in service. All the tutors are senior RINA technical
experts and the courses will be held in the RINA Academy training
centre, in Genoa.
