Transas won the Cruise & Ferry Award for the 'Best innovation in safety systems or safety technology'. A panel of judges distinguished the Transas idea of integrating AIS and ECDIS for collision avoidance as the best nomination.
The AIS & ECDIS combination has been recognized as an onboard
solution to avoid accidents and to improve safety and security at sea.
Among the indisputable practical benefits of this interfacing, presented
by Transas to the marine community, are prompt access to information;
data archiving; 3-level target identification; explicit target
presentation; route monitoring and additional information services.
Andrey Vorobiev, General Manager of the Transas Navigation Product Unit,
commented on this success: "We hope that giving this award to our new
generation Navi-Sailor ECDIS will help better promote the benefits of
the integration technology on the ship's bridge. We see a huge potential
in combining the ECDIS and AIS technologies and want to incorporate this
belief into our products".
Transas Navi-Sailor 3000 ECDIS has been designed in line with the latest
IMO regulations for UAIS interface. As such, Navi-Sailor 3000 ECDIS has
been provided with the capability to send, receive and display UAIS
transponder information exactly as it is prescribed by international
requirements. Compliance is achieved in the UAIS message format, content
and interface of the send/receive facility, while full static, voyage
and ship movement data are displayed on the electronic chart screen in
strict accordance with the international standards.
In April 2003, Transas Navi-Sailor 3000 ECDIS received a DNV (Det Norske
Veritas) type approval Certificate.
