Indonesian Ferry Sinks

At least 38 people died and 70 are missing after an Indonesian ferry sank on Sunday. The Japanese-built ferry Masnait was carrying 192 people when it went down after being hit by a wave in heavy seas near the spice islands capital of Ambon, about 1,400 miles east of Jakarta.

Officials said 84 survivors had been found as of Sunday, and the navy had been called in to help with the search.

The ferry, licensed to carry 192 passengers, was sailing from Ambon to a neighboring island.
