Gas Powered Vessels to Implement Wynn Wipers

Wynn Marine has supplied the window wiper systems for the world’s only gas powered cargo vessels. The first, Viking Energy, is owned by Eidasvik whilst the second, Stril Pioner was delivered for Simon Møkster Shipping in July. The vessels were constructed by Kleven Verft in Ulsteinvik, Norway. Both platform supply vessels are equipped with bespoke wiper systems utilising the Type D Straight line wiper, which hails from Wynn’s Ocean Range of wipers and is specifically designed for heavy duty usage. The Type D features an externally mounted motor and the most advanced design of linear action window wiping for marine applications. Wynn’s dedication to providing total reliability and long life make the Type D a highly durable product that is proven to work faultlessly in all weather conditions from freezing to scorching. Control over the wipers comes from Wynn’s Series 3000 Network Control System, which has been proven as the most flexible wiper control system available. Wynn has introduced extra connectivity to the Series 3000 for this particular installation, by offering a control interface through five PC screens. This allows for more flexibility in controlling other bridge equipment. A manual Series 3000 back up offers redundancy in case of primary interface downtime. This is the most advanced control set-up Wynn has installed so far, and demonstrates the ‘bespoke’ nature of Wynn’s wiper and control systems. The modular design makes the Series 3000 suitable for all bridge sizes and shape, and additional wipers can be added at any time without complicated design changes. With the ability to control other bridge related equipment in addition to a full wiper system, the Series 3000 Network Control System offers a wealth of added value over traditional wiper control systems.
