Humboldt First in Latin America to Implement NS5 Software

Humboldt Shipmanagement Ltda. Becomes First in Latin America to Implement ABS Nautical Systems’ NS5 software to a Tugboat Fleet.

 

Humboldt Shipmanagement Ltda., which handles ship management services for various fleets, including oil, gas and chemical tankers has expanded their use of the NS5 Maintenance & Repair software to its fleet of 25 tugboats. 

 

“We’ve seen the benefits of this product on our other fleets and believe it has the capabilities to be successful on our tugs,” said Renato Cortes, IT Project Manager for Humboldt Shipmanagement, Ltda. “Tugboats are confined spaces so the implementation has been much more involved. ABS Nautical Systems is helping us to achieve our goals and we will have the entire fleet up and running by the end of the year.”

 

Having used the software on their tanker fleet since 2002, Humboldt sees the software as a way to improve and standardize the maintenance procedures for their tugboat fleet. With the value of these assets steadily increasing over the years, protecting structural integrity is key.

 

The company acknowledges improvements in efficiency and reduced operating expenses have been achieved from using the NS5 Maintenance & Repair module. Their ability to create a tailored, organized and well planned maintenance system that fits their requirements has assisted greatly with internal and external inspection processes.
