Holland America Line Selects the NAPA

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

March 22, 2011

Helsinki, Finland 22 March 2011 - Onboard-Napa Ltd, the leading software house for ship operations, has signed an agreement with Holland America Lin. Onboard-Napa will deliver a solution of NAPA Voyage Reporting and NAPA Electronic Logbook together with NAPA Office reporting portal for Holland America Line's 15 ships.

NAPA Voyage Reporting is designed to be a fleet-wide reporting tool, thus enabling ship comparison, for instance energy efficiency, fuel consumption and water production/consumption. NAPA Voyage Reporting can be used for any kind of data collection, on board any type of ship or fleet. To suit the needs of the owner or operator, the level of automation can flexibly be chosen from totally manual inputs to automatic black box recording.

NAPA Voyage Reporting is used in combination with NAPA Electronic Logbook. This minimizes the unnecessary data input on board the ship as the Deck and Engine logbooks already contain a lot of important information regarding the operational reporting. NAPA Electronic Logbook replaces the traditional logbook used onboard ships. The software reduces the workload and makes the data accessible from any workstation onboard.

NAPA Office is a web-based business intelligence tool offering extensive reporting views and analysis tools for any data collected onboard. Being web based enables instantaneous access to e.g. voyage reports, logbook abstracts and speed/consumption curves from any workstation in the shipping company’s intranet.

Holland America Line will use the solutions to follow-up the fleet’s fuel oil consumption, energy & fresh water production/consumption and running hours for various equipment onboard. All the figures are collected in time series and categorized for each voyage for easy comparison. All data is automatically transmitted to NAPA Office at the company headquarters providing up-to-date information for the office personnel.

According to Dan Grausz, Holland America Line’s Executive Vice President, Fleet Operations:  “This is a great opportunity to utilize leading edge technology to generate more accurate information, maintain critical records, provide our men and women with the tools to better perform their jobs and reduce costs.  Onboard-Napa has worked closely with us throughout our testing of this technology to address our specific needs and ensure that the system, once deployed, will meet our expectations.”

“We are confident that Holland America Line will gain remarkable savings in fuel, emissions and costs control in the future”, says Saverio Sasso, Key Customer Manager USA, Onboard-Napa Ltd.
