  • 1813 - U.S. frigate Chesapeake captures the British warship Volunteer.
  • 1848 - Sloop Lexington attacked in San Blas, Mexico.
  • 1953 - Aircraft landings are tested aboard USS Antietam (CVS 36), the first angled-deck carrier.
