PPG Launches High-temperature Coating
PPG Industries’ protective and marine coatings (PMC) business has launched PPG HI-TEMP 222G high-temperature coating that protects substrates from corrosion under insulation (CUI) and can be applied directly to hot surfaces up to 400 F. PPG HI-TEMP 222G coating is a single-component product, requiring fewer cans of paint and no mixing, thereby reducing labor costs, PPG said
PPG HI-TEMP 222G coating can be applied in environments such as power plants, petrochemical facilities, refineries and offshore rigs. CUI is a significant problem facing these facilities, costing them millions of dollars yearly in direct damage to equipment and facility shutdowns that halt production. Independent studies have shown that between 40 and 60 percent of all pipe maintenance costs directly result from CUI.
“PPG HI-TEMP 222G coating was designed specifically to address issues incurred by using alternate products in CUI situations,” said Diane Kappas, PPG vice president, protective and marine coatings, Americas. “Along with industry standard HI-TEMP 1027 coating, PPG continues to offer the most comprehensive line of coatings solutions to prevent CUI.”
PPG HI-TEMP 222G coating can be top-coated with a variety of hues that won’t discolor at elevated temperatures, and it is available throughout PPG’s worldwide network.
