New partnership to offer cost-effective repair and maintenance services for all makes and models of steering gear and rudder systems worldwide.

HATLAPA Uetersener Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG and LOEWE MARINE GmbH & Co. KG will be collaborating closely in the area of steering gear and rudder system maintenance and repairs. The new partnership was announced at the SMM tradeshow in Hamburg in September. The two companies expressed confidence that the resulting synergies will offer an increased benefit to their existing customers and create new business opportunities. "HATLAPA has been manufacturing and maintaining a variety of marine steering gear and systems for nearly one hundred years," explained LOEWE MARINE’s Managing Director Carsten Löhmer. "The company has considerable expertise in all makes and models in use around the world – and not just in its own proprietary systems. This makes it the perfect steering gear maintenance and repair partner for our customers."

HATLAPA’s global sales and service network will go hand in hand with LOEWE MARINE’s international network of shipping lines, shipyards and suppliers. This means that both companies are now able to provide their worldwide customers with cost-optimised maintenance and repair services for steering gear and full-spade rudder systems. "LOEWE MARINE’s main strengths are its results-focused consulting and tailored project management services," said

HATLAPA’s Managing Director Jörg Tollmien. "LOEWE MARINE works side by side with its customers to put together the optimal mix of services, whether it is maintenance, refit or repair work." The premium service will include more than simply helping customers coordinate their scope of services. Together, HATLAPA and LOEWE MARINE will also provide seamless interface management to ensure that their customers’ projects proceed smoothly and cost-effectively.
"Thanks to this premium partnership, we will also be able to perform more cost-effective annual inspections of all electrical, hydraulic and mechanical components of steering gear and full-spade rudders," said Carsten Löhmer. Jörg Tollmien agreed: "Our combined expertise will give ship owners peace of mind, both in terms of cost and technical performance. With us at their side, they will be in the best position to operate their units successfully and reliably."
