Hapag-Lloyd Advice on the Ban for Imports to Russia

 

Hapag-Lloyd informs that the Russian government has signed an order to ban import of agri, meat and alimentary products originated from EU countries, USA, Canada, Australia and Norway for one year.

The ban comes in force with immediate effect but applies to the following products only:

all meat and poultry (fresh, chilled, frozen)
all fish and seafoods
milk and dairy products
vegetables and root vegetables
fruits & nuts
sausages and all similar products (made, semi-made)
cheese, fresh cheese and products thereof, containing vegetable fats
alimentary products (containing milk and vegetable fats)

As a consequence of this ban, the company  see no other alternative but to stop the acceptance of only these commodities originating from EU countries, USA, Canada, Australia as well as Norway with immediate effect and until further notice.

In this context, we will continue to accept all other commodities and origins that are not banned by the Russian government.

Containers that have already been loaded on our vessels towards Russia and which fall in the definition scope of this ban, will be returned to/discharged at the respective transshipment port, awaiting your instructions.

Affected containers that have already been returned full to the respective loading terminal shall not be loaded to the scheduled vessel but remain at the terminal awaiting your further instruction.

All costs associated with either of the above two scenarios will be for account of the shipper / consignee.
