BAX Global Opens Ningbo Office

BAX Global's China operation has opened an office in Ningbo in the Zhejiang Province to increase its coverage in Eastern China. The BAX Ningbo station, 450 kilometers south of Shanghai, will provide improved service in this developing coastal China port city. With its natural deepwater port, Ningbo last year was the eighth largest port in China with a total throughput of 1.2 Million TEU. BAX Ningbo will be offering a full range of services, including airfreight, ocean-freight and customs clearance. "The new office opening in Ningbo reaffirms our long-term commitment to the Chinese market," said Andrew Jillings, vice president, BAX Global, Northeast Asia. "Ningbo has, since the Tang dynasty, had a strong tradition of ocean trade and has in recent times developed into the economic center of Zhejiang Province. We're very excited about our growing business in this exciting marketplace," Jillings added. BAX now has eleven offices in China in the following cities: Xian, Tianjin, Qingdao, Beijing, Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macao. BAX Ningbo will be managed by Fred Zhao, who reports directly to Matthew Magers in Shanghai, who in turn reports to James Gagne, managing director, BAX China, also based in Shanghai. Ningbo, with a population of 5.43 million people, enjoys exceptionally good natural conditions being located at the middle of China's coastline on the south flank of the Yangtze River. Ningbo's major exports include garments and textiles, plastic products, bearings, lamps and lighting components, as well as fresh water fish and seafood, for which Ningbo is very well known.
