Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

October 1, 2018

The marine fuel and lubricant trading firm Glander International Bunkering has opened its  seventh office globally and third service point in Europe in Valencia, Spain, to  service clients in the Mediterranean and Spanish-speaking regions.

As the new Managing Director of the Spain office, Hernan B. Ortiz has officially moved to Valencia from Dubai to assume this new important role.

With more than 28 years of industry experience and 9 years within the company, Hernan will leverage his Mediterranean and Spanish expertise to further strengthen the company’s services in these important markets.

A press release quoted Carsten Ladekjær, CEO of the Glander International Bunkering Group as saying: "The shipping and bunkering industries are in a state of constant change. During the past few years, we have seen an increasing consolidation which we expect to continue going forward. Furthermore, the shipping industry is facing a radical change in 2020 with the new Sulphur regulations worldwide from IMO."

Carsten added: "For a company to steer through all these aspects, having a plan, knowing the timing and not least positioning of the right people in the right places is key. By having Hernan in Spain, I am confident that Glander International Bunkering will strengthen its position in the Mediterranean hemisphere and beyond. Mr. Hernan B. Ortiz has been with us for quite some years, and he is one of the pioneers who has contributed significantly in building and developing our brand to where we are now. It is therefore my honor to congratulate Hernan for his new title as Managing Director of our new set up in Spain.

The new office in Spain represents a strategic expansion of the Glander International Bunkering brand in Europe and beyond, as Hernan Ortiz explained: "The opening of Glander International Bunkering Spain, SL, was the next obvious step in line with our company’s solid growth. We are excited to be in Valencia, the largest port in Spain and the Mediterranean Sea, and the fifth largest in Europe."

"Our expertise in Spanish speaking markets in South America as well as our proximity to Algeciras, Gibraltar and the North African bunkering markets gives our new Spain office a unique upper hand for providing superior service," he added.
