NY/NJ Forwarders & Brokers Select Blust As 2004 Person of the Year

Steven R. Blust, Chairman of the Federal Maritime Commission, has been selected the 2004 Person of the Year by the New York/New Jersey Foreign Freight Forwarders and Brokers Association, Inc. The award will be presented during the 87th annual dinner at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York on January 28, 2004. The dinner is one of the largest transportation industry events in the country, attracting in excess of 1,500 people each year. Chairman Blust was nominated by President Bush to a five year term, which he began on August 12, 2002. Mr. Blust is a 31-year veteran of the international transportation industry. For the six years prior to his appointment, Blust held the position of President/CEO of Tampa Bay International Terminals, Inc. He previously held executive positions with Lykes Brothers Steamship Co., Inc. ,the Jacksonville Port Authority and Crowley Delta Lines. Mr. Blust has worked in ocean carrier liner trade management, marine terminal management, public port administration, tariff and service contract use and publication and liner operations. "Steve Blust has dedicated his career to our industry," said Stewart Hauser, Association President. "We are pleased to recognize his commitment to a fair shipping environment and to the Federal Maritime Commission, which guides our industry. Chairman Blust continues to play a leading role in shaping trade in our country," he added.
