U.S. shipbuilder Fincantieri Marinette Marine (FMM) informs it has received the 2017 Defense Security Service James S. Cogswell Outstanding Industrial Security Achievement Award.
The Cogswell award, given by the Defense Security Service (DSS), a federal security agency of the U.S. Department of Defense, is awarded to less than 10 percent of more than 13,000 industrial firms annually. The criteria focuses on the principles of industrial security excellence, which includes establishing and maintaining a security program that goes well beyond the minimum National Industrial Security Program requirements.
“Today Fincantieri Marinette Marine was awarded the James S. Cogswell Award. We’re proud to be considered a leader in supporting national security. Our top priority at FMM is to deliver mission critical naval vessels while safeguarding information entrusted in our care,” said Jan Allman, President and CEO of FMM.
To be eligible for this award, a facility must be nominated by a DSS Industrial Security Representative and have a minimum of two consecutive superior industrial security review ratings. A sustained degree of excellence and innovation in the firm’s overall security program management, implementation and oversight must be achieved.
“Fincantieri is honored by this significant recognition, and is dedicated to continuing its strong partnership with the Defense Security Service,” said Francesco Valente, President and CEO of Fincantieri Marine Group. “This award is a testament to the commitment of the Fincantieri Marinette Marine staff and government counterparts in exercising industry best security practices.”
