Grand Bahama Shipyard Limited (GBSL), a Caribbean shipyard providing retrofit, refurbishment and revitalization to cruise and commercial vessels, has added four new positions to its executive team in 2016.
Taking up the new executive positions are Ian Edward Ross, Don Keirce, Charles Nugent and Adrian Baboi.
Ian Edward Ross, Vice President HSSEQ
Ian Edward Ross joined GBSL July 2016 as VP of HSSEQ, bringing with him over 25 years’ practical experience delivering strategic and operational support to major organizations in the oil and gas, power generation and heavy construction and fabrication industries. Prior to joining GBSL, Ian held several senior international HSSEQ executive roles in the U.K., Europe, North Africa, Middle East, China, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.
Ian holds a Master of Science Degree in Health and Safety Management and is a lead auditor for ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 management systems.
Don Keirce, Vice President Operations
Donald “Don” Kierce joined GBSL November 2010 as Production Manager. Before joining GBSL, Don was a Consultant for Project Solution/ Ship Constructors where he managed the new construction ofthree3 oil tanker power modules. He started his career in ship repair in 1988 as an Apprentice Ship fitter at Kings Bay Submarine Base.
During his 28-year career in the marine industry, he has successfully embraced positions in production from an apprentice to production manager. With over 20 years of operational management experience in new construction and ship repair. He constructively integrates knowledge of industry technical practices, production operations, and resource management. Don utilizes a team building management style expeditiously achieving defined objectives and promoting long-term successful relationships.
Charles Nugent, Vice President Special Projects
Charles “Chuck” Nugent joined GBSL in July 2015 as a senior member of the management team. Chuck is a veteran of the Ship Repair and Ship Building industry with 43 years of experience in ship repair, ship conversion, new building project management, estimating, contract management, operations and engineering management.
Prior to joining GBSL he held several middle and senior level management positions at Atlantic Marine and BAE Systems Florida and Alabama Shipyards in the U.S.
Throughout his career Chuck has been responsible for the implementation of corporate strategies by leading the pursuit of new business opportunities, as well as startup and continual improvements in new ship building and ship repair operations. As VP of Special Projects at GBSL, Chuck is focused on the development and execution of facility expansion and improvements that will help transform and sustain GBSL as a leading world-class ship repair and conversion company.
Adrian Baboi, Senior Technical Consultant CRUISE
Adrian Baboi, new Senior Technical Consultant CRUISE at GBSL, has almost 20 years of experience in positions including Technical Director, Marine Operations Manager and Senior Naval Architect for world-wide companies, as well as, various key positions on long term projects at GBSL since 2002.
He is skilled and experienced in all aspects of naval architecture, hands-on international high-standard structural design and design management, interpretation and evaluation of contracts, proposals, budgets, procurement, quality assurance, commissioning, performance measurements and production control. Adrian has a clear understanding of the nuances of each of the requirements since dealing extensively with all Classification Societies and many statutory regulatory authorities throughout his extensive career.
Adrian holds a Bachelor of Science, BS Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture.
