December 9, 2008

Employees of Jo-Kell Inc., a local electrical distribution and engineering Company, presented two local charities with donations collected over the past month at their facility on Tuesday, November 11, 2008.

Bill Giermak and Martha Stewart of St. Mary’s Home for Disabled Children, as well as Karen Joyner, CFO for the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia were on site to accept the donations from Jo-Kell employees.

With the company matching the donations of their 49 employees from the past month, as well as a company sponsored “Tribute to Elvis” benefit concert on November 7th, Jo-Kell presented St. Mary’s with a check for $8,740. The Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia was also on hand to receive over 4,125 pounds of food collected by employees. The donated food will help feed over 3,259 meals in the community.

“Our employees form an incredible group of generous people,” said Jo-Kell’s CEO, Suzy Kelly. “Throughout the year they participate in numerous community projects, two of their favorites being St. Mary’s Home for Disabled Children and our local food bank,” Kelly added. St. Mary’s is the only pediatric long-term care residential facility of its kind in Virginia for children with severe disabilities.

Jo-Kell’s annual month long food and money drive began on October 1st and concluded with an all day employee appreciation celebration on November 11th hosted by owners, Suzy and Marty Kelly, to show appreciation and recognition for all contributions not only for this past month, but throughout the year.

For over 30 years Jo-Kell Inc., a woman-owned small business, has been an electrical distributor and solutions provider servicing the military, commercial marine, and industrial marketplace.
