Caterpillar announces the introduction of a secured intranet database for CAT dealers that enables Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM's) the opportunity to provide CAT dealers with model specific information. The system also has the capability to electronically notify an OEM when a CAT dealer accesses this database to service their product.
The benefits to OEM’s and their customers, allow OEM's to leverage the CAT worldwide product support network;ncrease communication and response time between the OEM's and CAT dealers.
Reduce OEM time spent resolving product support issues
The CAT OEM SERVICE INTERLINK allows OEM's to provide the Caterpillar product support network with a complete range of product support information. OEM's can provide the following types of information:
Any .pdf document such as:
OEM machine service manual
OEM parts books
OEM operation manuals
Wiring diagrams
Technical support literature
Warranty statements
Any .jpg digital photo file such as:
Machine photos
Engine photos
Service related photos
Any .ppt (Powerpoint) file such as:
Service training course
Trouble shooting instructions
Maintenance training courses
OEM Service Interlink can also include OEM & CAT selling dealer contact information, installation audit data, special service instructions, and OEM component information.
If desired the OEM can be sent an email each time a CAT servicing dealer accesses the systems to obtain information on their product.
OEM's that lack a nationwide or worldwide product support network can now utilize the worldwide CAT product support network to provide information on servicing their product. At the same time OEM's will have the capability to receive an email providing them with a customer name, customer phone number, CAT servicing dealer phone number, and the reason for their customer visiting the CAT dealer.
CAT OEM SERVICE INTERLINK is currently downloading OEM information in anticipation of officially launching the system to OEM's through the Caterpillar worldwide service network on July 1, 2002.
