Drydocks World Receives API Spec Q1 Certification

Drydocks World, a maritime service provider to the international, maritime, oil and gas and energy sectors, announced formal recognition through American Petroleum Institute (API) Specification Q1 certification for the shipyard’s Quality Management System which is suited to the requirements of the offshore oil and gas sectors. This certification complements the company’s strategy to penetrate the offshore oil and gas sector with high quality, customized and added value services.

The company’s Quality Management System is also certified in accordance with ISO9001: 2008 requirements. The system describes the process for monitoring and recording performance to provide data for continuous improvement. The Business Excellence and Quality Control functions are centralized and fully autonomous, which ensure that products and services are delivered to consistent quality standards which are not compromised. SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-bound) objectives are set in line with strategic goals. Continuous assessment and audits identify opportunities for improving the product realization process and the quality management system.

The API certification process requires that the company has a Quality Management system, quality manual and proper and adequate performance documentation processes and procedures. This includes performing and documenting an internal audit and management review in accordance with the standard. Besides, the API Specification Q1, ISO/TS 29001, ISO9001: 2008 for quality and ASME Certificate of Authorization, Drydocks World – Dubai has the ISO 14001 and BS OHSAS 18001 certificates for Occupational Health & Safety and Environment.
