Best Oil & Gas Project Award for SOLAN Project
The ADIPEC Category 1 - Best Oil & Gas Project Award recognizes a project that showcases regional innovation through an outstanding original approach. Drydocks World has received the Best Oil & Gas Project award for the Construction of World's Deepest and Largest Subsea Oil Storage facility consisting of a 45m x 45m x 25m structural tank connected with pile sleeves and mud mats weighing a total of 10,150 tonnes. The storage facility was towed to a defined offshore location in UAE waters for loading and floated over onto a heavy lift transportation vessel for sail away to the Shetland Islands in Scotland.

The project involved production engineering, bulk material sourcing, construction, installation of equipment and commissioning. The project started in February 2013 and was delivered in June 2014. The construction period included production engineering development, prefabrication, construction and rigorous testing. Drydocks World was involved in this project since the conceptualization phase and met client requirements by providing an ideal facility to build the prototype project. This required the guarantee of continuous monitoring of physical and climatically sound conditions, which are critical to the accurate building of the facility since intermittent weather disruptions could affect the welding quality causing distortions.

His Excellency Khamis Juma Buamim, Chairman of Drydocks World & Maritime World said: “I want to thank all the people who voiced their support to our unique and distinctive Solan project whether in the UAE or around the world. With our journey of success set to continue further, it is critical that our group retains and preserves our core values relating to SHEQ, ethics and integrity while maintaining its sustainable growth and competency to execute global standard projects.”

“Our strategy was built towards offshore innovation in the oil and gas and we have been successful in meeting many challenges through continuous learning and innovation to become a true Global partner for the oil & gas industry. This award is a testimony from the industry to our great workmanship, excellence and true offshore innovation” he added.

In this regard, it is noteworthy that the group in the recipient of many distinguished international awards and with its use of leading edge techniques is considered one of the best marine construction and repair services companies in the world.
