DNV GL Adds New Functionality to ECO Insight

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

November 4, 2016

The latest release of DNV GL’s fleet performance management solution ECO Insight adds a range of new analytical and reporting features to the market leading portal.

The new features enable shipowners to manage more vessel data than ever, with more frequent and higher quality results.

“Our user community has rapidly grown into the largest single performance management group in the shipping industry, and the data and feedback we are getting from them has been a great inspiration,” says Torsten Büssow, DNV GL’s Head of Performance Management. “We have directed their input into product development and innovation which has resulted in many new and enhanced features.”

The backbone of ECO Insight is the data collection and the latest version has taken advantage of the many projects using DNV GL’s in-house, customer, and third party data collection systems. “The last year has proven that ECO Insight can integrate sensor and auto-logging data. And we use this to provide more transparent and actionable data reporting and analytics.”

DNV GL’s own voyage reporting system Navigator Insight now comes with a unique electronic owner-charterer cooperation contract option, where the data released to each party can be tailored to reflect contractual responsibilities.

It also reports on even more operational data such as port logs, and consumer usage from systems like cargo pumps and inert gas generators. Navigator Insight is also already able to supply fully automatic MRV (Monitoring, Reporting and Verification) emission reports in anticipation of the regulation’s full entry into force in 2018.

Vessel positions are now updated hourly and speed variations from a target value are checked each hour. The management of charter party contracts and speed variability has been improved and analysis is possible in a single graph.

Customers can also select flexible time lines (hours, days, weeks, voyage legs, voyages) across the whole system. The hull degradation computation and display has been improved, as well as auxiliary engine usage analytics. Finally, a unique fuel quality module shows the impact of fuel quality on performance.
