MANSA, NMIS Ink MOU for Skill Development

Mumbai and Nhava-Sheva Ship-Agents Association (MANSA) and Narottam Morarjee Institute of shipping (NMIS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding for lauching a facility for training employees as well as aspirants in the shipping trade as a Corporate Social Objective. 

Accordingly, the historic signing of the MOU took place in MANSA Conference Hall on 19th November 2015.  The MOU was signed by Capt. M. M. Saggi on behalf of NMIS and Capt. Vivek S. Anand on behalf of MANSA in the presence of the Executive Committee, Past Presidents, Women Empowerment , Young MANSA Forum Members of MANSA and  Mr. R. S. Cooper, the 3rd President of MANSA, who happened to be the Founder Member of both NMIS and MANSA.

The MOU is aimed at providing skill based academic and educational cooperation associated with Shipping & Logistics related functions of Ship-Agents/Agency and to promote mutual understanding and growth of the two organizations.  Both organizations (MANSA and NMIS) agree to develop the following collaborative activities in the academic areas of mutual interest, on a basis of equality and reciprocity to:
(i)         Exchange skill development and training related information and materials;
(ii)        Promote collaboration in field of mutual interest;
(iii)       Facilitate, training, lectures, seminars and workshops; and
(iv)       Promote such other co-operation as mutually agreed;
 

The development & implementation of specific activities based on the MOU will be separately negotiated and agreed between the Organizations.  Both Organizations would adhere to their Organizational Constitutions and jointly carry out these activities with due consultation and approval of their respective Governing bodies.
 
During the occasion, Capt. Saggi informed that many prominent personalities in the Shipping Industry are in the alumni of NMIS.  Mr. Cooper also expressed that he was very proud and happy to see two babies MANSA & NMIS born in his youth are now adults and are performing so well and recollected that in those days there used to be only one lecture Hall and one yearly exam and that too on a hired premise.
 
Capt. Saggi stated that NMIS has now grown enormously and is situated in Nariman Point, Powai & in Navi Mumbai too with branches at Kolkata and Goa and plans to expand to Dubai & Singapore.  He also expressed his appreciation about MANSA's endeavours in bringing out White Paper on Think Tank for Indian Maritime Industry and a comprehensive SOP for MbPT.
 
Capt. Vivek S. Anand, President MANSA said that he had also planned to prepare a Compliance Manual for Anti-Trust / Anti-Competition Rules & Regulations with Dos and Don'ts etc.
