Member of the Rosneft Board of Directors, RF President's Special Envoy for International Cooperation Representative in the Arctic and Antarctic Artur Chilingarov took part in a meeting of the Arctic Council member states, observer states and representatives of scientific community under the aegis of the Russian Security Council in the city of Naryan-Mar.

The meeting participants discussed relevant problems of sustainable development and organization of safety on polar territories.

Chilingarov announced that Rosneft and the Russian Geographical Society have started elaboration of a complex program on Arctic scientific development and are planning to engage leading Russian specialists to participate in the initiative.

“In June we have already held a round table in the Arctic Research and Design Center (a joint venture of Rosneft and ExxonMobil). We decided to develop an interdisciplinary Arctic program and entrust its elaboration to best specialists,” he noticed.

“Rosneft works closely with scientific community, as efficient and safe shelf development is impossible without large-scale complex researches. We also hope that our initiative will be supported by governmental agencies and we count on broad international cooperation.”

After the meeting with the representatives of the Arctic Council member states Chilingarov took part in the ceremony of awarding the victors of "Discover the Arctic - 2014" project idea contest.
