CIMC Raffles Delivers Jack-up Rig to Sinopec

A Jack-up Drilling Rig which was constructed by CIMC Raffles with Sinopec Independent design named “New Sheng Li 1#” was delivered to Sinopec Sheng Li Petroleum Engineering Co., Ltd. at CIMC Raffles on 6th June 2014.

This was the 7th Jack-up drilling rigs that CIMC Raffles has delivered. It will be towed to Bohai Bay providing drilling service to Sinopec Sheng Li Oilfield soon.  CCS and CIMC Raffles top  leaders attended the delivery ceremony.

“New Sheng Li 1#” was the first new-build offshore drilling rig since Sinopec Oilfield Service Corporation was founded in 2012. The basic design and detail design was done by Sheng Li Drilling Technology Research Institute, the shop design and construction design was completed by CIMC Raffles. Equipment localization rate reaches above 90%.

“New Sheng Li 1#” was the largest and most advanced offshore drilling rig that Sheng Li Oilfield owned currently. Its modular length is 56 m, modular breadth is 54 m, modular depth is 5.5 m. The rig is able to operate in water depth up to 50 m, and has a drilling depth up to 7000 m. The rig is equipped with a cantilever and a top drive, it is able to drill up to 30 wells at most in one stand.

Classed by CCS. “New Sheng Li 1#” was optimized and upgrade based on its sister rig “Sheng Li 10#”, with DCS+ESD system was installed, it can get remote diagnosis and emergency control.“New Sheng Li 1#” started construction on 25th June 2013, lots of new technology were applied. The whole project only took 346 days to complete, it is the shortest construction period compare with other rigs of similar type.

Since 1977, CIMC Raffles has constructed and delivered China first submersible drilling rig “Sheng Li 1#” for Sheng Li Oilfield, CIMC Raffles has also maintained a series of offshore drilling rigs including “Sheng Li 2#”, “Sheng Li 3#”, “Sheng Li 5#”, “Sheng Li 6#” and “Sheng Li 8#”.

The top leader of Sinopec Oilfield Service Corporation said the delivery of “New Sheng Li 1#” is not only the land point of the development strategy of the their headquarters but also the new opportunity of offshore business development of Sheng Li Petroleum Engineering company.
