IZAR Gijon Delivers Chemical Carrier

IZAR Gijón delivered on 27th. June the 22.700 m3 chemical carrier to Chile company Ultragas Ltda, after the ceremony of blessing, whose godmother was Claudia Sotomayor. This ship is fitted with double hull and double bottom and contains 28 stainless steel tanks, prepared to transport different IMO I and IMO II chemicals as well as refined oil products. Main particulars of “Guanaco”, floated on 27th. October 2002 are: - Lenght overall – 161,23 m. - Lenght b.p. – 152,10 m. - Moulded breadth – 23 m. - Moulded depth – 12,95 m. - Drought – 9,25 m. - Speed – 15,5 knots - Dead weight – 19.000 tons - Cargo tanks – 22.700 m3 - Main engine – B&W 6S50 MC - Crew – 28 people - Clasification – Det Norske Veritas For propulsion, IZAR’s Cartagena Diesel Engine Factory has provided 3 marine groups, each one equipped with a IZAR-MAN 5L 23/30 655 KW at 720 r.p.m. and an emergency group equipped with an engine IZAR-CAT 3306 190 KW at 1.8000 r.p.m. IZAR is specialized in construction of chemical carriers, fitted with important security equipment for the transport of very dangerous products. IZAR Gijón has already built 8 carriers with stainless steel tanks: 1 for Botany Bay, 2 for J.O. Tankers, 4 for Stolt Nielsen and the just deliverd one to Ultragas Ltda.
