Starship, a 175-ft. dinner cruise vessel, was recently delivered to Starship Cruise Lines of Biloxi, Miss. The mega-yacht style vessel was designed by DeJong & Lebet, Inc., Naval Architects, Jacksonville, and was built by Freeport Shipbuilding in Freeport, Fla. The vessel features distinctive yacht-type styling, with exterior and interior finishes to match. Starship is USCG-certified under Subchapter K for 600 passengers plus 30 crew. Starship carries a Stability Letter for Partially Protected waters. The vessel is designed to have a 5.5 ft. full load draft, in order to access some of the more shallow waterways in the Biloxi area. Electrical power is provided by two series 60 gensets rated for 275 kW @ 1,800 rpm. The 250 hp Schottel bowthruster is powered by a Detroit Diesel Series 50 engine with a Twin Disc gear. All engines were supplied by Stewart and Stevenson. The mains and generators are keel-cooled with Fernstrum grid coolers. Vessel Specifications Length (overall): 175 ft. Beam (moulded): 40 ft.
