USCG Helps with Cruise Ship Fire

Coast Guard responded to the a Sun Cruz Casino cruise ship fire on May 16. At the time the ship had 160 people on board.

The fire apparently started in the engine room, was reported at about three miles south of Port Everglades.

Eight rescue boats and a Coast Guard helicopter are responding, as well as two fire-fighting tugs.

The ship was towed to Port Everglades, Berth 1. The cause of the fire is unknown, but an investigation will follow.
