Corvus Opens New Facility in Norway

Norwegian-Canadian marine propulsion energy storage solutions provider Corvus Energy has opened its a new battery manufacturing facility in Bergen, Norway. The automated factory is equipped with a digitized production line based on nine robotic stations and has the capacity of up to 400 MWh per year.

“There is an electric revolution going on in the maritime sector, and we want to deliver the best solutions in the industry," said Geir Bjørkeli, CEO, Corvus Energy. "The Corvus team in Vancouver developed the groundbreaking battery solution that accelerated adoption of zero-emission and hybrid marine propulsion systems, particularly in Norway. With so many of our customers and partners in Norway, it only made sense to add production capacity here, which gives us flexibility and will speed deliveries. Further, automated production will help the Corvus ESSs remain price-competitive.”

The company’s Vancouver facility in British Columbia, Canada will continue to supply battery solutions to North American and Asian markets and Corvus is also expanding its Vancouver research and development (R&D) center to continue manufacturing prototypes and production runs of new products.

Corvus Energy obtained Manufacturing Survey Arrangement (MSA) accreditation from the Norwegian ship classification organisation DNV GL in August this year.
