The U.S. Department of State issued Notices announcing three meetings
of the Shipping Coordinating Committee. On May 20, the committee will meet
in Washington, DC to discuss and decide upon possible changes to the
subcommittee structure. Changes under consideration include disestablishment
of the subcommittees on tonnage and measurement and on UNCTAD and
establishment of subcommittees on IMO administration and budget; IMO
technical cooperation; facilitation; carriage of bulk liquids and gases; ship
design and equipment; dangerous goods; radio communications and search and
rescue; fire protection; flag state implementation; safety of navigation;
stability, load lines and fishing vessel safety; and standards of training,
certification and watchkeeping. On May 20, the Subcommittee on Maritime
Safety will meet in Washington, DC to finalize preparations the 77th session
of the Maritime Safety Committee. On May 22, the Committee will conduct a
joint meeting with the Radio Technical Commission for Maritime Services
(RTCM) in St. Pete Beach, Florida to review the 7th session of the IMO
Subcommittee on Radiocommunications and Search and Rescue and prepare for the
