EU/US Initial Agreement on Tansport Security Cooperation

The European Commission (EC) issued a Press Release stating that an agreement with the United States has been initialed to improve transportation security on a reciprocal basis. The goal is to integrate security checks into normal customs controls before goods leave a country. The agreement is also intended to ensure the security of containers from all locations that are imported into, transshipped through, or transit the EU and the US. The EC wants to prevent differential treatment among member states.
