KMSS Wins Contract
Ballast and Service tank level gauging will be monitored by the KMSS GT302/303 pressure transmitters. The level in service tanks can easily be measured by mounting the GT302 pressure transmitter in the engine room near the bottom of the tank where the transmitter will measure the static pressure from the liquid column. The ballast tank levels will be measured using the submerged GT303 pressure transmitter. The monitoring and control system will be managed from the KMSS DataChief C20AE machinery automation system. DataChief C20AE is an automation system where signal interfacing and processing are shared among a number of Distributed Processing Units communicating on a redundant Controller Area Network. The delivery also includes two Local Operator Stations (LOS) connected directly to the Controller Area Network. The purpose of the LOS is to enable local access to the Distributed Process Units for inspection of process variables, local operation of process equipment, simulation of input/output signals, adjustment of parameters and inspection of the built-in diagnostics.
This delivery benefits from KMSS92s unified automation concept, where each individual ship configuration is built up using standard modules communicating on redundant field bus (CAN) and redundant Local Area Networks. DataChief C20AE is configurable for all ship types, including oil and gas tankers, bulk carriers, passenger vessels, container and Ro-Ro vessels, reefers and other special purpose vessels.
