Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) said it had awarded a contract for the building of an LNG carrier to Hyundai Heavy Industries of Korea. The company said the contract was the third to be awarded to the Korean firm and that the ship with a capacity 137,300 cu. m. would be delivered by the end of February 2003. The NLNG said it was increasing its fleet of carriers to deliver extra output from the expansion of its southern Bonny LNG facility. NLNG is building a third production train at the $3.8 billion LNG plant which will raise output to nine million tons per year from current six million tons on completion in 2002.
