Hamburg Süd Christens San Class Containership
Hamburg Süd yesterday christened another containership in its San class, as the official naming ceremony of the newbuild San Clemente was held at the Marina Bay Cruise Center in Singapore, with customers and business partners.
The San Clemente is one of Hamburg Süd’s series of three San class newbuilds constructed at the Korean shipyard Hyundai Heavy Industries in Ulsan. Like her sister ships, she has a container slot capacity of 9,034 TEU and 1,370 reefer slots.
The new containership’s Sponsor is Wietske Willemijn Wage, wife of Niels Wage, Vice President of Marketing Freight & Potash at our company’s customer BHP Billiton. The naming ceremony was attended by Hamburg Süd Executive Board member Peter Frederiksen.
Like the San Christobal, which was christened in August, the San Clemente is operating on the service between Asia and the East coast of South America. The third newbuild, the San Vicente, was delivered to Hamburg Süd last week.
