Telecom Provider Allies With Ocean Conservation Society

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

August 30, 2012

Perseus Telecom pledges support for Oceanic Society, a non-profit conservation organization that aims to preserve marine wildlife & habitats.

Perseus Telecom delivers ultra-fast connectivity service while having an "ultra" low impact environmentally. By utilizing a dispersion compensation methodology, the firm delivers faster processing equipment using existing submarine assets and shorter cable paths.

The company is a strong advocate for environmental health, striving to identify worthy causes, such as the Oceanic Society's State of the World's Sea Turtles (SWOT) Program and other conservation science projects established to help protect the world's oceans. Marine conservation awareness is driving this alliance with the aim to gain exposure and industry attention on how to best leverage telecommunications as a primary and most efficient choice of conducting business around the globe.

Roderic Mast, Executive Vice President of the Oceanic Society, comments, "We are extremely grateful for Perseus' commitment to ocean conservation. It is both uncommon and admirable for a company to be so proactive in minimizing its environmental impact and supporting conservation work. Beyond financial support to our work, Perseus has already made significant efforts to minimize their environmental footprint.

The strategic alliance came from the desire of Perseus Telecom CEO, Dr. Jock Percy, to give back to the oceans where Perseus' global telecommunications cables lay. Dr. Percy notes, "Perseus has established methods of green connectivity whilst still being the fastest cable system, cutting down distance and energy usage.
