Alphaline design concept for new pilot vessel wheelhouse.

With the christening of the new pilot station vessel Polaris Alphatron Marine of Rotterdam has completed the design, installation and commissioning of one of the most comprehensive deliveries since its founding in 1991.

In close cooperation with Fysergo, a Dutch company specialised in ergonomic workspace design, an Alphabridge wheelhouse concept was designed in order to comply with the  severe demands of the Dutch pilots association in regards to sitting and standing vessel operations.

A special workspace for the pilots was also included in the total bridge concept. The ‘Polaris’ wheelhouse is an example of common style panels, monitors and controls in the Alphatron developed Alphaline design concept. This standard design concept offers flexibility towards the various systems supplied by different vendors, but is based upon a common equipment mounting technique.

The Alphaline concept also features central dimming functionality to ensure good visibility of all screens in all light conditions.

The Alphatron delivery on ‘Polaris’ included not only navigation/communication systems and wheelhouse consoles, but also i.e. satellite television, the IT network, IP streaming, entertainment systems and CCTV.
More than 250 Alphabridge wheelhouse installations are currently in service. Polaris is a prime example of the full concept, featuring the complete scope of integrated systems and design methodology.
