RSC FUTERRA Offers Easy Conversion and Broad Compatibility

RSC Bio Solutions’ FUTERRA is an environmentally acceptable lubricant (EAL) made from a renewable base oil derived from plant matter.

FUTERRA was developed to address industry demand for enhanced sustainability combined with superior performance in critical areas such as hydrolytic stability, system compatibility and equipment uptime.

FUTERRA is suitable for use as a lubricant anywhere conventional oil is used, but is intended primarily as a sustainable marine fluid for use in a wide variety of equipment applications.

As an Ecolabel-certified EAL made from a renewable source, FUTERRA not only meets all current global environmental regulations, including the US EPA’s Vessel General Permit (VGP), but ensures compliance for years to come.  That’s why it is referred to as the Fluid of the Future.

With FUTERRA, conversion couldn’t be simplerFUTERRA is miscible with legacy fluids, allowing for easy conversion, and can be used as a drop-in replacement (without any configuration changes, equipment upgrades or negative impacts) for other EALs and mineral oil lubricants. And, while many EALs are incompatible with certain types of seals, FUTERRA has very broad seal compatibility, even with traditional seals like NBR, allowing operators to use the seal that is the best choice for their specific needs.

Operators must carefully consider the challenges presented by their specific environment and application, as well as familiarize themselves with the regulatory requirements of the areas in which they operate.  It’s also important to avoid greenwashing.

There are many products that claim to be environmentally friendly, so external validation like Ecolabel, is critical.  Finally, smart operators consider the total cost of ownership, including upfront cost, overall productivity, uptime, equipment wear and service life.
