MHI to Change Name of Group Company
Effective November 1 Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) will change the name of its group company in Singapore from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Engineering & Services Private Ltd. (MIES) to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. (MHI-AP). The name change comes in tandem with the addition of business development functions. As the business management hub in the Asia-Pacific region, MHI-AP will promote business development and EPC (engineering, procurement and construction), targeting further expansion of global business operations.
Specifically, at the same time handling various products of MHI, MHI-AP will develop business to provide solutions that combine these products. The upgraded unit will also seek expansion in business scale by applying its expertise in EPC, built up through its involvement in chemical plant projects, to other business areas. In addition the new MHI-AP will strengthen its after-sale servicing operations and pursue possibilities for participation, including investment, in BOT (build, operate and transfer) and BOO (build, own and operate) projects. In these various ways, MHI-AP will target expansion of its business scope by changing its basic business model.
MIES was established in 2010 as an MHI group company based in Singapore. The company is currently capitalized at S$15 million and has 216 employees. Managing Director Yoshio Nakayama will continue in his position after the name change to MHI-AP.
With the addition of business development functions, the newly upgraded MHI-AP will provide support to the further expansion of MHI's overseas business operations as a business management hub for developing business, including EPC, in the Asia-Pacific region.
