March 12, 2008

The Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Pacific awarded Watts Constructors, LLC, of , a $46.9 million, firm-fixed-price contract on March 5 for construction of a new communications center at Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station (NCTAMS) Pacific.
The work includes construction of a new single-story, steel framed building that will be equipped with raised floors, moveable interior walls, fire-suppression system, conference rooms, and emergency electrical power. Supporting facilities work will include a parking lot, sidewalks, landscaping, fencing and lighting.
"Four years of hard work by the NCTAMS PAC staff, NAVFAC Pacific, and the SPAWAR (Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command) team has come to fruition, and the new facility will provide the infrastructure necessary to support network-centric warfare," said Capt. Janet Stewart, NCTAMS Pacific commanding officer.
"The new building will provide NCTAMS PAC with the facilities needed to support the Command, Control, Communication, Computers and Intelligence (C4I) systems that the warfighter depends upon to get the right information, to the right people, at the right time," she added. "The current communications operations facility was built over 50 years ago and can no longer keep pace with modern C4I system requirements.
The new facility is expected to be completed by March 2010.
